I bought Pipedream 45 years ago. This is the first time I've seen the man behind those great songs. It's a fascinating reveal – much more gentle and genuine than I'd imagined.
Had a copy of "Pipedream" way back, always loved his power of observation in the lyrics. His early demise is one of life's great injustices.
Alan you will always be the love of Tyneside.
Alan Hull was amongst the best songwriters. Lindisfarne remains one of my favourite bands of all time since seeing them in concert in 1971. This is the first time I’ve seen him in interview. Lovely, gentle, sensitive man. Sadly missed.
What about the songs he talks about that he never released… have they ever been released?
I saw Lindisfarne at Redcar Jazz Club just as they were changing their name from Brethren. They were supporting Fairport Convention, and as the 'local team' Lindisfarne almost stole the show. I'd never heard of Brethren before the show, and absolutely loved them from the off. Alan Hull explained they changed to Lindisfarne as they had an LP coming out and there was already a group in the States called Brethren so they had to change name for copyright reasons. Not a bad name change as it happened !
God ,I do hope there IS a heaven where people like Alan can find peace .
Absolutely underated, Winter song best song ever written.
He was part of the band "The Chosen Few". I love their song, 'So much to look forward to'. Check it out.
Dead so young, I wonder what we have missed?. Thank you Alan, he should be far more recognized as a writer and performer
Alan Hul…thank you
Fascinating little clip. Saw him solo once many years ago in New Brighton, just stood up in front of a few of us fans and played and sang, so glad I was there !!

Fantastic stuff, thanks for the upload!! Pipedream will always remain one of our all time fave albums. Alan Hull deserves to be far more/better recognised. A great English songwriter of the highest order. God bless all who hear him 🙂

I've recorded at Frank's studio in Lambton Lion Park. Would love to go back again.
Marvelous piece. Great find.
Well I happy he is recognized as the genius at least by you and me. He has been like my hero fron my teenage time in 1970's. So many wonderful songs, like The Winter Song etc. He has influenced to my life a lot.
Thank you so much for uploading x x x
Superb, more of the same would be very welcome. How on earth is Alan Hull not recognised as the genius he truly was as a songwriter?
