What an amazing artist his story telling voice and raw talent for American folk music remind me of the Lumineers. Glad American idol did not work for him his sound is too good and original for the show.
The judges are looking for someone with a commercial voice to sell records. But I am tired of hearing performers over-singing pop songs with endless runs. I appreciate Murphy's nuanced approach to songwriting and I honestly couldn't name a single song by Katy Perry – she seems more interested in making fashion statements than music but I guess that's the "music business".
