This is an amazing book. I’ve looked at many songwriting books, and Cope’s is near the top for most complete. Cope covers the major aspects of songwriting (structure, melody, lyrics, chords – in that order). The first two introductory chapters are also very good for pinpointing your reasons/goals for songwriting. I also recommend Shortcuts to Hit Songwriting by Robin Frederick, a great book as well. If you are looking for a very fast way to start writing songs then buy that one. The 126 tips are easy to use right away. Righting Wrongs has better organization though and is a little more in depth. I suggest getting both.
