I bought this book and several other books on Nashville and this one is far and away the best of them all.

First of all it actually goes into great detail about how to live and work and succeed as a musician in Nashville. It’s not a city directory attempting to disguise itself as something else like one of the other books I read was. It’s truly helpful and insightful and useful.

It’s not “fluffed up” with useless information like so many books are these days. The information provided in this book is what will truly help you as a songwriter in Nashville. The author was VERY thorough covering just about every detail she could think of that you may want to consider before, during and after a move to Nashville. It’s pretty impressive actually. There’s also an index in the back useful for quick reference after you’ve read it.

The fact that this book is in it’s third edition should tell you it’s endured the test of time.

By far the worst of the “Moving to Nashville” books I read was “Making the Scene: Nashville – How to Live, Network, and Succeed in Music City.” Most of the contents of that book you’ll find for free on the shelves you see as you walk into any grocery store in Nashville or online. A telephone book, which you also find free in grocery stores, would also prove more useful. And it DID NOT cover what it claimed in it’s title. There was very little about “how live, network and succeed” in Nashville. I got a refund on that one.

Don’t leave home without it!! Having already made my first jaunt to the Music City prior to purchasing this book….I can most definitely appreciate all that it brings to wanting to be a professional songwriter. The good thing for me is that in my trip I only committed one error….the other stuff I did was just along the lines of getting acquainted with Music Row and getting the tourist stuff out of the way.
Now, for my second trip, it will be like my fourth or fifth because I feel as I’ve already made those trips, avoided the mishaps and traps after reading this ‘how to manual’.
Sherry provides some very sensible ‘how to and how not to’ points. The book is worth several trips to Nashville. A great preparatory.
My wife and I have already sat down and written out a plan for moving to Nashville for next year using this book……lots of excitement in this…I’m looking forward to becoming part of the music community and living that life.
    Let the ‘adventure’ begin.
    Don’t Leave Home Without It!
    Peace and Love,
    John

I don’t know if I hate it or love it, as I have not yet received it, having ordered it over a month ago.
