? Before you jump into a songwriting class, you might want to consider the Musician basic elective. It’s coming up soon and covers the ground floor of notes, chords, scales, and how songs get put together. After that, those are critical tools in songwriting. We would love to have you in either of these courses. Remember, space is limited to eight participants so that everyone can ask questions and engage with the instructor.
Songwriting encompasses creative writing in poetry, music theory, and a lot of editing. In this video, I am clarifying two words that I use a lot. This is not language I hear other places, so just as you may not understand what I mean when I say bottom up or top down, assume nobody else does either. But it’s helpful in understanding the way we think about melody.
