http://www.youtube.com/MajesticFlexx (A Danny Whitfield – Majestic Flex Production) Thomas Randolph “Thom” Bell (born January 26, 1943 in Kingston, Jamaica) …

in the intro it mentions Bell was born in Jamaica……….that explains
his friendship with Bob Marley……..Bell had tried to get Bob to see a
doctor when his illness began but it wasn’t the Rasta way unfortunately.?
Thom’s producing talents were second to none. Gamble and Huff productions
always sounded wonderful but follow their albums with a Thom Bell produced
Spinners album and the room is suddenly flooded with sound to another
level. An accomplished arranger and musician, he and lyricist Linda Creed
created memorable timeless classics. All Thom Bell admirers should check
out one of his less well known classic albums, I’m Coming Home by Johnny
Mathis, one of my personal favourites. Great to hear this interview.
Thanks.?
Thank God for your wonderful genius Thom Bell.Your style and attention to
musical detail is something that is unmatched in the business and I am glad
to say that you are greatly responsible for my love for writing and
performing music sir. You mentioned that you were associated musically with
Andre Watts at one time. Andre was a childhood friend of mine?
I didn’t know what an arranger was when I was younger (grew up in the early
70’s) and I loved music, music was and is a huge part of my life. Even as a
kid, I always paid more attention to the different parts of a song and how
it all came together, and I would wonder– how and who put the end product
together? That was fascinating to me! I always read liner notes and saw his
name quite often on albums listed as arranger, songwriter, musician–he is
a freakin genius. He’s fantastic and I admire him so much…and MAN was he
FINE back in the day, yum yum :)?
In my opinion, Thom Bell IS the best writer/producer/arranger of all time.
As Holland-Dozier-Holland was the true “Sound of Young America” for
Motown….Thom Bell put the “Sweet” in Sweet Philly Soul….THE BEST!!!!?
Whenever the singers or musicians are interviewed, they show tremendous
respect for Thom Bell. His music is just so finished.?
His music was always interesting. Back then, I was buying my
records/artists based on who produced them, rather than for the artists
themselves. Very good integration and use of instruments from all the
sections of an orchestra. Strings, brass, woodwinds, and percussion.
Things they don’t teach in schools today.?
mmmmmm ……..music….?
Hi Danny, nice one !?
Cheerful, smart, down-to-earth man. Great interview.?
Thom is the greatest producer music has ever had.?
God Bless the genius of Thom Bell?
Thank you Thom Bell for being expressive with your soul, and Soul Music. I
would love to study with you. You’re in the Duke Ellington class and
tradition. Blessings … Thanks Terry Gross and Danny Whitfield, etc. for
bringing this light to light!?
I would love to hear the interview of the string section. : D?
