Yes a fan of D’Angelo but nothing special there in the songwriting Dept?
Are you a fan of D’Angelo?
MICHAEL JACKSON ONCE SAID,”STUDY THE GREATS AND BECOME GREATER”!
Good saying indeed
GREAT GREAT SLOGAN!! CHUCK D OF PUBLIC ENEMY SAID IT B4 SCARFACE! THIS
THING GOES BACK 2 FUNDS BEIN’ CUT IN SCHOOLS! NO INSTRUMENTATION, NO
THEORY, NO FEELING OR EMOTION! MONOTONES!! THEY DON’T EVEN SCREAM OR HIT
GREAT HIGH NOTES 2 GIVE U THAT “FEELING”!! CAN’T REMEMBER LAST TIME I GOT
EXCITED ABOUT SOMEONE’S ALBUM COMING OUT!!!
Greed kills,it is sad how The industry has taken over and now rules the air
waves! The sounds from Motown in the 60s,to the great mega groups of the
70s are No longer why? MONEY THE LOVE OF MONEY THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL! There
many of great musicians out there writing great songs sad thing is We will
never get to hear them. Sad thing is these music Mongrles have sold there
souls, and want to take the youths as well ! Just listen to what ALL of the
new so called artists are saying, can’t say singing
Very well said I agree totally
Man, I’m happy I’m not the only one complaining about today’s R&B having at
most 3 different chords and no key changes……and no tempo changes. It’s
getting too minimal man, all style no substance.
More like devolution; the industry is sacrificing musical prowess for quick
cash, new acts. New acts that last today but are gone tomorrow for the next
new trendy act.
Now most of these old school bands (aside from Mint Condition, man what a
group of lifesavers they still are today) no longer record new material and
just stick to playing the oldies circuit. Any aspiring black bands either
have to go overseas to find their audience or just remain underground/indie
until the industry finally gets back to some shred of credibility-doubtful
at this point thanks to the internet. Now artists can directly connect with
their fanbase instead of label “middlemen”.
It was really over for black bands after ’93, when rap/hip-hop became the
dominant form of black music and the record industry was pushing that
Seattle “grunge” sound to no end (which killed off even the more
interesting black alternative bands that were hanging on for dear life).
The result of this led to an entire generation (mine) being unable to
understand, appreciate or even respect real instruments, well-written
songs, professionally trained singers/musicians, and MUSIC-minded producers.
I would agree the old bands are doing the oldie’s tour because of course
they will not be given any new contracts but the industry refuse to sign
new black bands to save money WE need to boycott the industry and demand
the signing of new black acts
Funny, I was asking that same question in an AOL chatroom about 13 years
ago and NOBODY remotely knew what I was talking about (lol). I think most
black bands started dying out for real after around ’83, when synthesizers
and programmed beat machines were beginning to replace actual horn/string
sections, drummers, and even guitar players. Then the Reagan Administration
really kicked it into overdrive by cutting music programs out of the public
school systems, leading to rap/hip-hop dominating…
Baby Face Love him
Indeed
The greatest Babyyy Fave
simply evolution of music.
Not at all the industry is trying to KILL black music off
The Industry killed the black bands the fan follow what the Industry
dictates
Take a look at this on you tube. Gene Simmons: “The fans killed the record
industry” what do u think?
Thanks Bruh
If you look at some movies and some tv shows you’ll notice that alot of
them like to incorporate old school music in their movies because theyre
classic songs. And when you talked about the big bands, the first thing
that came to my mind was the song Take Your Time by the SOS Band. I
remember watching an old video on here and they had atleast 8 people on
stage and it just looked and sounded so great. the underground artist &mid
major artist today are the ones using bands in my opinion
Whatever they are,:.”Rap or hip hop”, it all makes me want to kill myself.
Anyway, thanks for all your hard work. You are great.
