Larry teaches you how to look at life through all 5 senses. This translates into creating some of the best musical pieces you could ever imagine. Music is an extension of life events and this book surely helps you see that. Finally a down to earth honest guide to songwriting. Highly Recommend !

I have been waiting on this book for some time and I can tell you Larry Dvoskin does not disappoint. Reading this book from a singer/songwriter’s point of view, it is all that I hoped for and more. Larry reveals great lessons on creative writing that can bring out the best in even the most seasoned writer. His knowledge and explanations for using different format’s during composing, and especially a great “how to” on creating that ever sot after “Hook” is priceless. I love the personal side of this book as well, and it is always giving the reader the feeling that this author is pouring out his soul for you in such a way as to tell you how you can find emotion in your writing and story telling, as well as putting that same emotion into your score. Larry does not hold back but dig’s deep in all his example songs, teaching the reader how to write and compose for all the people who are going to listen to your music forever. This book is perfect for the beginner and the seasoned song writer. I love it, and would recommend that you have this book close by if you are a songwriter, and you really want to, “Do What You Love”. If you are not a songwriter this is a great inspirational book to own, and also a tremendous gift for a friend, family or loved one who write and compose music. Buy it, or give it, you will be loved for it or happy you gifted yourself.
    Congratulations Larry! I love it!

The Perfect Songwriting Book is Here!, September 25, 2014

I just finished Larry Dvoskin’s book Do What You Love-Songwriting and must, say it was just incredible. I’ve read at least a dozen books on songwriting in the past but to me, this is the finest. I was introduced to Larry when he was my songwriting instructor at NYU SCPS. His class was far from ordinary. We spoke for hours about songwriting and barely scratched the surface. I instantly knew that Larry was a top authority in his field. The class I took with him was amazing. Little did I know that Larry was in the process of writing a tell-all book that uncovers the craft of songwriting. This book has everything: life stories, powerful lessons on songwriting, musical anecdotes, and musical words of wisdom. Larry’s writing style is funny, intriguing and most of all, inspirational. I connected with this book because I have been searching for the right person to explain the techniques and secrets behind writing the perfect song. I am so thankful that Larry wrote this book. Now I have a much clearer understanding of mind of a great songwriter. Larry’s Seven Keys put me on the right track to realizing my ability to tell a story through music and lyrics. I recommend this book with all my heart and soul. It will get you to think like a songwriter and will provide you with the tools necessary to write a massive hit. Thanks Larry for the wisdom!
