  1. I think that this contest was good for my mental health.

I didn't get a chance to participate. I started writing several songs for this contest, but I found the channel when it was already 2+ months in, and the timer ran out before I could get one (that felt complete at under 4min) done. But, I finally finished making templates for all of one's I had ideas for, and while there are still some short comings, I absolutely adore them.

I don't feel as constantly miserable as I did for a while there, and when I start to (because I guess it never really just goes away) It's a little easier to disappear into music for a few hours.

Thanks for getting me going and helping some of us survive the early 2020's!
Maybe I'll try a song out on a Friday live stream one of these days.

  2. I absolutely love how the comments are like "oh wow a pop song, what a joke", or "not enough metal, unsubscribed"

Wow, it's almost like songwriting is about writing memorable and clever melodies and lyrics, and having a structure, not just noodling the pentatonic/chugging the same note in drop Z, who would've thought.

Also, congrats to Hellis! Song is great man, reminds me a lot of Bilmuri and I love that project lol, great vibes. Looking forward to what you write next.

  3. 2:40. This right here is what is wrong with today's world and why today's generation gets easily offended as they were raised with this participation trophy kind of mentality. He literally says, "if you didn't win the contest, you didn't lose." The fuck kind of ass backwards thinking is that? Yes, we should be proud of trying as that in itself is a sense of accomplishment because not everyone gave it a shot. However, lying about us not losing is just horseshit. 1,500 of us DIDN'T see our names on the reveal which means we lost. We should be angry & sad at ourselves because of it. However, those feelings are gonna help us learn and get better because we lost not because we "didn't lose". The loss is the lesson.

Congratulations to Hellis for a song well written. Personally, not a fan of that style of music but I knew that was gonna be the winner once I heard that song.

  4. I not saying you didn't get my entry, or skipped it. But I definitely missed it on the streams. I've gone back a few times to look. Any chance you could point me to what episode. I thought it'd be in one of the last two based in when I sent it in.

  5. Trey, I listened to the winner. I'm not impressed. Either two things, 1) The entries weren't that good, or 2) You may need to work on it some more – (I'm trying to be nice about it).

    My take
    – Sometimes… the chord structure was interesting, but sometimes.
    – As an independent artist, they're very good compared to the rest. If they were pros – They're not ready, they need to work on it more. I think they could have something great in the future, but not with this song. It's not enough to for me to go and buy the album, or go to one of their shows.
    – Although I'm ecstatic someone brought back the guitar solo, however, this solo was boring, emotionless and it just felt like filler. It was eh, ok, eh.

Now I'm very picky. You may not be. Hey we're different! You danced and liked the solo, I didn't. Almond Joy has a nut, Mounds don't…. you may be too young for that commercial. In other words – Either way, it's all good.

I don't want you to think I'm putting you down, I'm not. Just my thoughts.

  6. Not gonna lie, looking at the narritive you created of you being a skilled Songwriter and now seeing the price of the course and that already 50+ people enrolled: That contest is a huge Marketing win. That's quite some worth being generated there – on both sides. Freaking well done man!

  7. I don't mind if I didn't won. This contest is changing my life. I've been writing songs for some 15 years and I never had vocals over my songs. For this contest I paid a guy to sing my song and dude, i realized my potential. I've received a lot of good feedback! So i'm actually writing an album and forming a band! I already have 6 recorded songs and material for another 15! It.motivated me so much that every song that I wrote is better than the last one. Thank you Trey.

  8. Gotta admit I tapped out once the videos went to streams. I know there were a lot of entries but the stream vids were way too long to sit through. Congrats to the winner, shame you didn't play it in this video though, that seemed a bit strange to me. I know there is a link in the description but I though you might have even played it in the background of the video?

  9. Got mad for a few seconds and just realized "hey…this made you write a song for the first time". Wrote two new songs after that and currently trying to learn how to sing! This contest has been nothing else but a great motivator!! Happy for the winner 🙂
