Your just amazing! Thanks for your tips and good vibes. Im learning lightning ???
Timely lesson find, rediscovered Waste today and thought I need to figure it out.
Coming from a teacher your a good teacher, your human.
Yes, it absolutely made sense, thank you! See you over on Patreon.
This was great. I’ve been trying it on guitar and mandolin for the past week or so. To find it on any chord, I start with the 7th and then step that finger up two half steps. I got it in lots of keys now. thanks.
I watch tons of guitar instructors and music theory videos. Yours are the most practical and immediately impactful. Thanks
Aloha Ian, great song that incorporates this for your viewers to check out is, Just Outside Of Austin by Lukas Nelson.. great tune! Willie plays with Lukas too.. just an epic tune??
It can be done with a minor chord as well, as in Don’t You Worry ‘Bout a Thing by Stevie Wonder, where the minor v goes to the major I.
I was Only Joking is another good example of this – thanks so much for laying this out, love your stuff!
Whenever I hear this chord sequence I think of maybe I'm amazed (the chorus)
I once again thank you for another great lesson. I know this is a little off topic, but what do you consider the best order of events, for a newer guitarist to follow,
in their pattern of learning?
If I were to subscribe to your online lessons, what order of events do you present in those? Thanks
Always a pleasure to learn from these generous educational videos.?Thank you
I just learned Shady Grove and had no idea of the concept of descending melodies. I now with your help can apply this beautiful concept to other songs that I want to learn, as well as writing my own. Thanks for the aha moment that I enjoy watching your videos.
This was very useful and fun to play. On the D to G chromatic walk down I found it satisfying to play the fith fret barre version of D (D2) and walk it down to an open D (D1) (after the GM) walking down within a walk down ? aha just fun, even though I'm fairly intermediate I still get a lot out of the Guitar Fundamental videos, I can tell my Foundation of fundamentals is a little shaky lol.
Fantastically illuminating light bulb moment provided by Stich. Thank you Ian. Fiat Lux!!!
Midnight Cowboy everybodies talking at me..
I think Lil Wayne how to love has it. Bubbly and kiss me also
"Time in a Bottle" is a good one that uses this nicely.
Ian, you do a great service by mentioning how this simple concept looks so forbidding to a beginner looking at a chord chart.
More Phish!!!
Great post, Ian. ?
Shine On You Crazy Diamond "you wore out your welcome with random precision, rode on the steel Breeze". And after that there's ascending chords, "come on you target for far away laughter….. ".
Dude. I love your channel, your teaching methods and personality.
Never change. You're awesome.
George Michael “praying for time” has this descending pattern. Great video!
gentle on my mind
So when does your acoustic Mötley Crüe cover album come out? 😛
Take me away Oasis intro of this video is the same as the song
Heard a nice shout-out to you at the end of the Undermine podcast (ep. 1 The Origins) https://www.osirispod.com/podcasts/undermine/. You definitely have a great way of explaining concepts and teaching all the right things. Good on ya!
Your the coolest man, thanks again.
How beautiful! This week i was exactly going around this and you explained it clear as crystal, thanks so much
Stitch I watched and listened again those arrangements are beautiful ?
