This is so good. I like the way he calls his latest album a CD. Being a teenager in the '90s, it makes perfect sense to me.
I absolutely love his songs, and this is one of my favorite singer-songwriter performances I've seen.
Of course, the music is wonderful. But I also enjoy John and David's conversation about social media. In his death, it seems he has left us words of wisdom in how we should live.
I only became aware of David Olney during the last couple of years, but he was a great singer/songwriter in the Townes/Steve Earle/John Prine/Steve Goodman tradition. I think my favorites of his songs are "1917" and "Deeper Well." First heard them sung by Emmylou Harris, together with Linda Ronstadt on the first haunting tune. RIP, David.
This was his one chance to play for me the first time. Blown away. RIP. I wish I had heard of him sooner. Gone but never forgotten. At least not by me.
