I first saw Rodney with Emmylou in Brighton in the 1970s – they had a little pick-up band – some dude called Burton on lead, Emery Gordy on bass, Ron Tutt on the kit, Glenn D Hardin on piano, Hank deVito on steel….they were pretty good too – wonder whatever happened to those guys. Rodney is proper old school – writes great songs and just stays true to his mana as the Maori say. The new album is a grower – like all his stuff. Keep on keeping on Mr Crowell ! you're doing fine….
