Thoro Harris was a prolific writer and publisher of 20th century gospel hymns. Born in Washington, D.C., in 1874, Harris worked as a music teacher, composer and publisher of gospel music in Washington, D. C. and Chicago before moving to Eureka Springs, Arkansas, in 1932. There he continued to write and publish gospel hymns until his death in 1955. In several ways, Thoro Harris is a man of mystery; this program details Susan Young’s search for the facts surrounding Harris’s life and work.
