I had thyroidectomy and also got my neck fused and got the plate removed. My vocal chords are stapled together now. Lost my high range but my lows are of thunder. I use baritone guitar, guitalelle and also low g tuning strings on my nylon. So -5, -7 and -9 is where my voice sits. Capo on 3rd fret makes it so I can sing -9 half steps instead of +3. Many folk singers do that. But yep I retune many songs down to my vocal range to do them.
Rivers Cuomo of Weezer? That Rivers Cuomo?
The trick for baritone singing is to either capo the guitar higher and play in lower keys (a, g flat, b, etc) or to just tune your guitar down a half or full step
I use capos a lot. I keep one in my guitar case and one in the studio. Many songs I play I need to move the key higher for particular singers.
GREAT TIP! Always learning with you Mike! I'll make sure I write my next song with the capo on the guitar.
Can't thank you enough for this one.
key is the key, absoluetly true?
Yup. This works awesome until you have to deal with a brass or reed player playing with you 🙂
Then when the pencil breaks you feel like a bigger loser than someone who would make up a story about band posers
The worst is when you lose your capo and you resort to using a pencil with rubber bands. You feel like a bigger loser than the band posers
Really digging that outro song!
Social Distortion in e# or first fret. Is this new to you? Rockin the capo for years on acoustic or electric
