CreatiVets is a Nashville-based nonprofit on a mission to help disabled veterans cope with service-related trauma through songwriting and music. CreatiVets co-founder and Executive Director Richard Casper thanks the arts for helping him cope after suffering a traumatic brain injury during his tour in Iraq, and now he wants to help other veterans heal from past traumas through his songwriting program at the Grand Ole Opry. Country music singer-songwriter Jesse Wayne Taylor mentors veterans through the songwriting process, and then performs and records their songs so they can share them with loved ones. Army veteran Dan shares how Jesse and CreatiVets helped him craft a heartfelt message to his kids with his song “Unbroken.”
