A brief, but noteworthy clip from “The Making Of Give My Regards To Broad Street” in 1984. Paul is asked about John Lennon and discusses his thoughts on if a Lennon/McCartney songwriting collaboration would’ve worked out after The Beatles.

  1. Paul wrote many of the best Beatles songs…John and George too…and many others songs was co-written by Paul and John..a Genius Team..(sorry by my English,i speak spanish)

  2. Okay, this is 1984, and Paul gives some thoughts on the Lennon McCartney partnership. In time, say 20 years later, Paul's take on the whole phenononem (sp?) may well have altered. Time has only added to The Beatles legend, and with Paul, the ensuing years, may have given a better and deeper perspective, of what they achieved together. John was never going to be the easiest guy to get along with, and his sarcasm was always going to cut and abrade, given his intellect. In the end, Paul, like most of us, had probably had  it up to here, and was happy to strike out on his own…. Any which way you want to work it, the genius of Lennon McCartney together, came apart. The brilliance of the partnership is not conveyed in Paul's few thoughts, and deeper reverence should come in time…

  3. granulated…..And I Love Her, I Saw Her Standing There, Birthday, Drive my Car, Magical Mystery Tour, Michelle, She's Leaving Home just to mention a few "Paul" songs were co-written.

Take heart some of your favorite Beatle songs were in fact influenced by John

  4. Well, true. The L&M credit always bugged me, as well. However, you have to admit that it is obviously equally true in regard to songs written entirely by John. I don't think Paul had anything to do with "I am the Walrus", for instance.

  5. I think if you asked this question to Paul today, his answer would be very different. Two musicians and song writers like John and Paul could not have stayed away from each other forever. With time I do think they would have wrote and played together again .
