usually when I write some of the ones of wrote before I've had a guitar to help out, I find chords that go together then write words. it doesn't take that long depending on how u make the words go with the chords. should take around 30 minutes or less

I guess you can write songs by formula and get something. But they're better if there's some of your story, your life, your feelings wrapped up in them. Take my song "Southern Waters" for instance. (It's here on You Tube) Took me 8 months to write that one. Poured my soul into it. It may never be a hit, but it was important for me to say those things. Go listen and see what you think. Couldn't have turned that one out with a formula. It's the real thing.
