A nice little interview of John Lennon and Paul McCartney for a 1966 BBC Radio show, recorded at Paul’s newly-purchased townhome on Cavendish Avenue. About mid-way through the interview, a very young “Martha My Dear” can be heard howling from another room. The interview was re-broadcast in 1988 on BBC Radio’s “The Beeb’s Lost Beatles Tapes,” and that’s when “Hey Jude” was edited in. (You can tell the interview was taped in ’66 because Paul mentions that Martha is 7 weeks old. He got Martha right after he moved into his home on Cavendish Avenue in the summer of ’66.)

  1. Recorded for the BBC Light Programme with Keith Fordyce at McCartney’s home
in London on August 6, 1966.The show was broadcast on August 29, 1966 on
the program,”The Lennon and McCartney Songbook”.?

  2. There songs were masterful because they understood what good music is.
Music captures a feeling. So good music gives you a certain mood when you
listen to it. They used figurative language appropriately to amplify the
mood set. Not like many artists who think the metaphors should be the
focus. Complexity doesn’t mean good music. Feeling, sound, tone, and mood
    means good music. ?
