I’ve Never Been To Me

You know the song–

Oh I’ve been to Nice and the isles of Greece
Where I sipped champagne on a yacht
I moved like Harlow in Monte Carlo and showed ’em what I’ve got
I’ve been undressed by kings and I’ve seen some things
That a woman ain’t s’posed to see
I’ve been to paradise, but I’ve never been to me…

i heard this song about 32 years ago and never forgot it and knew it would be a hit..then 5 years later i heard the song again and it was A HUGE HIT! it took people a long time to understand the message within the powerful song. NOW here’s the book, “I’ve Never Been to Me” by the singer CHARLENE, who made you cry with her pure vocals.

like the song, i bought this book right-away. i wanted to know about the woman with the beautiful voice….what was her life like. did it relate to the song in anyway….was she happy or sad. did she find true love or not…did she see the world (especially Greece and Monte Carlo) or curse life, did she become a mother and a wife….

i always thought that the two women in the song was really just one woman looking into a mirror…singing about the life SHE had lost and never realized.

now with the book….after 32 years, i have my answer.

a GREAT read (with photos)….i got all my questions answered….BUT i also highly suggest you listen to this extremely poignant and haunting song….it’s for both MEN and WOMEN, young and old.

i have been a fan of Charlene’s music ever since i pickd up an lp called ‘songs of love’ and was very moved by her music and singing. “used to be’ is one of my all time favorite lps (along with ‘ive never been to me’) so i def wanted to read about the history and journey of this wonderful singer and great lady! the book fills you in on the rise and fall and rise again of the iconic title and fills you in on her journey. it def was not an easy road and most would have given up i suspect but if Charlene ever reads this, i want her to know that she is an inspiration and i for one am so proud of the music she has made (i’m including the ‘sky is the limit’ and ‘time stand still’ that i bought yrs ago off her ebay site). you are a true spirit and kind and loving mother and the book is a wonderful read and very uplifting through all the ups n downs of the music business but its important to know you made it through on your terms. an honor to have read this and the chance to know the sweet lady behind the great music. thank you 🙂

If you thought you knew Charlene you have to think again. There are disappointments, challenges, heartbreaks and clear help and teaching from deity himself. It is amazing the amount of people she has known and you will be a better person for reading this book.
