“One time at a time, sweet Jesus”, that Marijohn Wilkin wrote with a little help of Kris –
here’s the story about the song told by Marijohn Wilkin:
She phoned Kris, who just was in town with Rita, that she had the second verse and the chorus of a new song but could not come up with a suitable opening. When she showed him how she started the song, “I’m just a mortal…” he looked at her, “Why don’t you say, I’m only human, I’m just a man…” She, “That’s good! That’s what I need.” And they finished the first verse in about 20 min. “The lines just flew out from each of us.”
I also love Harlan Howard’s song … (“Pick me up on your way down”)

At The Opry (Ryman Auditorium) out the back door, into an alley way. Across that Alley is the side door entrance to a famous little beer joint called Tootsies Orchid Lounge. Hank Williams and almost all of the performers on the shows would slip over there before DURING and AFTER their portion of the show and have a drink with friends. It's said that Hank drank in there with many of the greats in the Opry. If walls could talk what stories would be heard from that little bar.Patsy Cline, Hawkshaw Hawkins, Hank Williams, all the greats made deals, and told stories at those little tables & barstools. A MANY a song writer has hung out in there just TRYING to get a STAR to listen to their songs. If you ever go to Nashville ,go by the Ryman & next door to see Tootsies. Its all purple ,last time I saw it, and man the HISTORY that was made there!!! ?
HARLAN HOWARD THE BEST OF THE LOT !?

What lady and song was Willie talking about in the 70's, 80's and 90's?
Can you imagine the stories Tootsie could tell about these guys? Does a place like this exist today for musicians? Probably not, so much has changed.
That's the lady who wrote the song, Marijohn Wilkin
who is the lady that is singing One Day At A Time?
Thanks for posting this, the guys (and lady) all having fun! Looks like Marijohn Wilkin RIP, Jimmy Dean, Willi,? Kris, Marty Stuart,Bobby Bare and that super songwriter (and singer) Harlan Howard RIP. Not sure who the female was? Did I miss anyone?

That sounds great… Thank you for your comment 🙂 I love how much they were laughing together in these scenes… really looks like a lot of fun.
Tootsie Bess was everyone's MOM in Nashville; including me. God Bless Tootsie Bess! What you are seeing here was a regular happening at Tootsies at the "Songwriters" table!!!
Marijohn sounded good here..R.I.P.

@cataloni10 This is about songwriting, you should listen more carefully to them… I didn't know that Elvis ever sang Kris' song "For the good times"…
