“One time at a time, sweet Jesus”, that Marijohn Wilkin wrote with a little help of Kris –
here’s the story about the song told by Marijohn Wilkin:
She phoned Kris, who just was in town with Rita, that she had the second verse and the chorus of a new song but could not come up with a suitable opening. When she showed him how she started the song, “I’m just a mortal…” he looked at her, “Why don’t you say, I’m only human, I’m just a man…” She, “That’s good! That’s what I need.” And they finished the first verse in about 20 min. “The lines just flew out from each of us.”

I also love Harlan Howard’s song … (“Pick me up on your way down”)

  1. At The Opry (Ryman Auditorium) out the back door, into an alley way. Across that Alley is the side door entrance to a famous little beer joint called Tootsies Orchid Lounge. Hank Williams and almost all of the performers on the shows would slip over there before DURING and AFTER their portion of the show and have a drink with friends. It's said that Hank drank in there with many of the greats in the Opry. If walls could talk what stories would be heard from that little bar.Patsy Cline, Hawkshaw Hawkins, Hank Williams, all the greats made deals, and told stories at those little tables & barstools. A MANY a song writer has hung out in there just TRYING to get a STAR to listen to their songs. If you ever go to Nashville ,go by the Ryman & next door to see Tootsies. Its all purple ,last time I saw it, and man the HISTORY that was made there!!! ?
