For a long time now, my friend has been looking for an easy way to transfer his record collection on to CD. The reason for his wait is simply because the method of transfer has to be idiot proof, that’s right, he’s not what you would call tech savvy. The Crosley CR248 Songwriter CD Recorder could be the answer to his problem. But he has also been looking for something that was a bit retro looking, so the Crosley ticks that box as well.

It turns out the crosley is a piece of cake to operate, very easy to program and search content on Cd’s. Old records sound very good indeed, were not talking top of the range here, just a very good overall sound. Cassette tapes sound pretty good also. To record from either vinyl or cassette, simply play one or the other, and press record. Yes that’s all there is to it, press stop, to stop the recording! It’s so easy to make up your own albums on CD, from record or tape.

I mentioned my friend was looking for retro styling, and the Crosley is perfect for that, but it’s also the perfect color, paprika. This is a rich colour that goes well with the decor in his living room.

Overall the Crosley CR248 Songwriter CD Recorder is not the highest of high- fi, nor is it meant to be. But it is a cracking piece of equipment that performs very well, and does everything it lays claim to do. As a stand alone piece of furniture, it really looks quite beautiful.
