Christian Songwriters Wanted!

I’m looking to gather Christian music makers of all kinds – starting with Christian songwriters.

If you are Christian and you write songs, http://christianmusicblog.com is being built with you in mind.

It’s a new site launching this summer where I will talk about all the things that Christian songwriters often think about and wrestle with.

I invite you to sign up and join the growing email list of songwriters.

DO YOU STRUGGLE WITH ANY OF THE FOLLOWING?

1) Creative discipline and productivity
2) Insecurity and pride that cripples you from sharing your songs with others
3) Writers Block
4) Knowing where to start with getting your songs heard by the right people
5) Predictable lyrics and melodies

If you’re like me, then you’ve struggled with all five of these things and more.

What are the solutions?

Come to our launch page at http://christianmusicblog.com and join us!

Do you know other songwriters? Share the video!

  1. Heroe's
Tryin to transcend this body people are searchin left and right
For something to lift them up inside and get them through the night
    Who are your Heroes?
Who makes your heart skip a beat?
Who are your heroes when you lay down to sleep?
side by side lonely strangers try to fill the expanse inside of them
Lost and alone in the mass of humanity vainly searching for a friend
    Who are your heroes’
Who makes your heart skip a beat?
    Who are your heroes’
When you lay down to sleep?
Like waves upon the sea of life, their dreams never coming to fruition
Blindly worshipping they know not what with no hope for their condition
But there is a way, there is a love… who can fill us to no end
Hes everything, the Great I AM, our King and our best Friend
    and
    He Rose for me
He got up and He set me free
Death and hell didn’t stop His heart
It’s His love Ive needed from the start
    He Rose for you
He knows all that your goin through
He got up and He you free
He died for you on Calvary
    He Rose for me
    For all of humanity
Our love, our King and our best friend
He wore a body and He did transcend.

  2. Hello – I am not sure how this all works. We are trying to get some original music for my daughter to sing. I ask around and it seems like everyone says it's easy, yet I can't seem to find anyone that has original music to sell, or use etc. I am looking to purchase/use/sing or however this works. Anyone out there interested? I can have her face time so you can hear her sing to see if it's a fit?? Thanks so much!!
    Ruth

  3. Thanks for the follow on Twitter, Nate! I will make the rounds and make connections with you. Our band has two songwriters; we've been at it since 1976.
    Peace & Love & JOY,
    Mark LaJOIE!

  4. well I check out the website. not sure how to get involved though- I saw some well known artists though! I got at least 15 songs, 6 are copyrighted now. I just got my first 100 from discmakers, and I need to know what to do next-

I'm trying to make a career out of writing, not performing. Could you point me in the right direction friend?

  5. Just starting again to write. YouTube" antifashion, war jazz"

My concern is feeling modern. Any suggestions on who to listen to to modernize me? I love The Arrows, but theyre too complex for the masses. Blesses to ya!

  6. Ok, I write lyrics and yes a little insucure and yes no idea what to do with it. The songs come form a deep and true place From life itself, from me a man of I like to think great faith.

  7. I just signed up for podcast. I have been writing Christian songs for many years. I also write secular songs, nothing weird, just something different. About twenty years ago I bought my first acoustic guitar, couldn't play to save myself. Just over a year ago, actually, January 1st 2014, I said, Lord, I can't find anyone to help me with my songs or add music to them. Please God, help me learn this guitar. So, for the first time in twenty years I started taking it serious. I learned the basic chords, you know, D,E, A, and so forth. After about six months, I could comfortably remember and play about (18) different chords major and minor. I then prayed, God, please help me put chords to my songs. Now I have about ten of my songs with chords that I can comfortably play. One year three months later, I can now play not too bad, still learning, but I've come a long way. I thought at sixty years of age, I wasn't going to do it, but with God's help I did.
No, I'm not bragging, but I can tell you, that I know for sure, that I couldn't have done this without God's help. I now have two electric guitars and a twelve string acoustic which I just love to play. Praise the Lord. Looking forward to the podcasts and learning more. Though I must admit, I do feel inadequate around seasoned musicians. I feel that most like to show off what they can do, maybe this is a normal thing.

  8. Hi Nate 🙂 this is great! I love singing and I feel like God has placed it in my heart to sing for His glory. But I find it very difficult writing songs. I feel like I'm not particularly talented in songwriting, so I don't really know what to do…

  9. I have wrote 43 songs and I have never recorded any of them, btw my songs are very fresh God has blessed me with a incredible talent I am so blessed but if any of you guys could help me out I would really appreciate it one more thing I'm 16

  10. Music is only defined by the people. Music and lyrics comes from ones heart, feeling, life struggles and beliefs. We as people give genres and label everything, so our opinions are stem from man made rules. Music reaches and touches a soul depending on the message. We all could relate to some type of lyrics some one else wrote and relate so well we could swear that it was written just for your ears. But as a song writer and a strong believer and servant of God i know myself that i write music telling my life either the spiritual journey and the physical one. It just is, what is is.

  11. When David stripped naked and performed for God, it offended everyone EXCEPT God! I see these people on here getting so offended and I can't help but to think of how confident David was in his response!

  12. It isn't that it's not possible for art to glorify God, because art is a means of expression; you can use songs, poems & narratives to share Jesus, but so often, it's not what's going on. To pretend it is, is to basically give it permission to deceive. If lies become as good as truth to us, we no longer have an expectation of the true. That shouldn't be in music about Jesus, even if that means there's no money in it. Hymn writing should struggle to be pure, never tolerate corruption.

  13. Everybody is familiar with the crossover artists who said they were Christian but end up promoting Satanism. Everybody knows about some artist who lives morally as if they could care less. The Nashville Scene joked about how many gays were represented at some industry reception. It's probably true. Real believers in Jesus might be struggling with that sin, but they won't be active, unrepentant, & just pulling the wool over everyone's eyes for long. God chastens His own.

  14. If it was just a matter of a little for-profit music publishing, then it might not be so much of a temptation, but it is such a lot of money that people aren't being honest about it. But hymns & spiritual songs should be written from the heart, truly for the glory of God, in love & gratitude towards Him. Having the profit motive alongside of the worship motive is such a trap, b/c people pretend they don't have to choose, but according to Jesus, we always have to choose.
