I made this ages ago. It’s just a short clip about Matchbox 20’s lead singer Rob Thomas and his take on songwriting. Hope you like.

  1. If you look at the notebook in the beginning he is writing the lyrics to "Tired"… which is a song that was written way back in the Tabitha's Secret days. Odd.

  2. That's so funny to hear him talk about the vowel sounds at 1:20. I've always written songs the same way! It's like, you may not even have any idea what you're wanting to write about, but certain phrases or vocal sounds just want to come out with certain melodies. Glad to hear I'm not alone in this!

  3. he went to lake Brantley high school. he graduated to years after my dad. my dad went to lake brantley high school. my dad knows this rob thomas. he isnt that hard to find but he is hard to contact.

  4. Holy shit. He's such a friking god, I could listen to him sing his grocery list with some guitar chords thrown in and be having the time of my life.

  5. Who are you or anyone to say which music is bad (or good)? It's nothing more than an opinion. And why do you even care if the masses feel such emotional reaction to this music? Music is meant to be felt. If someone is moved by a song or can relate to the lyrics… good for them! Lack of maturity is when someone degrades other because they share a different opinion and as I mentioned… it's all opinion. Even yours about chord progression, counterpoint, inversions.

  6. I always sit at school and write songs I listen to my mp3 and any song I listen I just start writing and writing and all theae ideas and feelings then I do the melody later

  7. rob thomas is so inspirational for me. im like the same exact person as him, im 16 and i play guitar and sing, and i just write songs in school all day. its funny that he said he only hoped to get laid by playing piano, cause im pretty much putting everything on the line for music write now. education dwon the toilet, so i better make it 🙂

  8. @n3ss3lhauf It's a cigarette, not crystal meth. About 45 million adults in the United States currently smoke cigarettes. I personally don't like cigarettes and I think they're rather disgusting, but if cigarettes are the only thing he smokes I think we're okay!
