Itβs 2020 now…and I just find out you have a YouTube channel lol. Love your books!
So cool
Some gold here, Robin. Thank you! Very clearly laid out ideas and examples. I especially like the chorus "appetizer" comparison π
I am just discovering your terrific books and videos. They are so helpful. And I was delighted to learn that you wrote "Been Smoking Too Long". I first heard Nick Drake's recording of this in the early 90s and have loved it ever since. Imagine what a bummer it would have been had I discovered that you wrote songs that I didn't like. What a relief that the opposite is the case! π
Robin , it's very interesting book ! Can I buy this book on PDF ?
Robin, these videos are excellent! Thank you for teaching me how to write songs – I play live covers (guitar and vocals) on stage but now that I want to write original material I had never really thought about the song structure, dynamics and what is really going on. Just ordered your 'Shortcuts to Hit Songwriting' on Amazon π
Excellent analysis and this is really helpful, even for someone like me who's been writing for a little while.
Can you analyse love me like you do please
Thank you so much!Β ThisΒ videos are wonderful for learning to write a song. I am taking my first steps. Even though I have written so many lyrics I have not yet matched my lyrics to melody. This is what I really like to be able to learn. Thanks again, this is wonderful. π
Happy is the number one on iTunes slow
Thx for posting theese videos!
It really helped me alot as I am gonna have a upcoming singing competition and I am still considering if I should write a song…..
Can you do some videos about "here comes the sun" like this one? It would really help!
Thx lots!!!!
You are wonderful! Thank you so much for making these videos! I've been stuck on a song for about 6 months and thanks to your step by step videos, problem solved. I would love it if you would dissect some of taylor swifts songs?
Thank you, Tom. I really appreciate your comment. Good luck to you and may your songs flow!
Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed the video, Stephen and thank you for spreading the word. It helps to keep me going. π I have Adele on my short list, for sure.
Absolutely brilliant!! Please make many more – I'm showing this to all my friends! I'd love you to disect Adele's songbook. I know there are a lot of spiritual melodies and that gospelic anthems and lyrics, but even as a professional songwriter I'm just mesmerised by what it is that makes almost every single one of her songs brilliant.
Hi Christine – Thanks so much for letting me know you like my emails and videos. It means a lot and really helps to keep me going! π
Thank you so much for continuing to share your valuable knowledge. I also love the song coach e-mails. Every time I read it I feel empowered and inspired to write. I have both of your books and they also challenge and encourage me. By the way, you had done a critique of one of my songs a couple months ago on Taxi TV and I have taken your suggestions and rewritten it. It was so helpful to have your feedback. I learned a lot from that experience. Keep it coming!
Thanks! I just started uploading these and I'm really happy to hear you like them. A new one just came out today for "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" by Kelly Clarkson.
Wow! Thanks for that. And I am SO impressed that you're writing every day. That's the way to do it!
Robin! I love your book and songwriting tips. I reference it every time I'm writing songs. And that's 7 days a week π Thanks so much!
Thank you, Gary! I really appreciate that. I'm hoping to make this video the first in a series if people think they're helpful. It keeps my book updated, too.
Robin does it again – no one beats her at getting into the how and why great songs ARE great. I have her book "Secrets of Hit Songwriting" (and a pile of others, some excellent), and IMHO it's the best songwriting book out there.
