He's not a real writer, real ones have an endless compulsion to write, he doesn't, he sees it more as a job which is why he hasn't put out new material in 25 years.
It was around 2002 when Billy was named MusiCares Person of the Year and there was a dinner to honour him where other artists like Nelly Furtado, Stevie Wonder, Jon Bon Jovi, Diana Krall, Rob Thomas and Natalie Cole performed his songs, as well as Marc Anthony who if I remember rightly did An Innocent Man, Bon Jovi did Say Goodbye To Hollywood and Diana Krall did Just The Way You Are, as she has actually recorded that before anyway.
What the hell! last second… Marc Anthony appears all of a sudden…
