  1. That's exactly how I wrote my first song! I was improvising over canon in D, and all of a sudden I got a few ideas, then changed a few chords here and there.

  2. I agree. This whole idea of "stealing" from other art get's pretty silly I think sometimes. Without people burrowing, drawing inspiration, or downright stealing little bit's from other's, in addition to just recycling ideas, I think art, science and technology would become pretty much boring and "been done". You took what you liked and added to it/ altered it. That can be a huge aspect of creativity. An aspect I feel that is frequently forgotten by other musician's. But also, at times I suppose, too closely adhered to. In any case enjoyed the video and would really hope to see more entries on you're creative process in melody/motif writing and development, in addition to solo fingerstyle arrangement and adaptation of pop songs. That's an area I find myself not improving. What got you to break through you're own barriers and really make improvement?

  3. your name is very Welsh and you are Welsh but you don't have a Welsh accent. What part of Wales are you from? near the english border? I'm half Welsh half English i must secretly have an internal conflict going on 😛 Welsh side is from a little way out of Swansea. up in the mountains near there.

  4. Your tutorials have helped me to stay "clean" for almost a year now. I sincerely thank you for your time and efforts. You not only made me a far better finger-stylist, but indirectly saved my life. I am so grateful. Thanks again…would you please do one on either Paddy Sun's " Sunflower", or Mike Dawes" Boogie Shred"?

  5. Nah Gaz your right its not a rip off its inspiration. Ben howards only love could be said to sound like John Martyn's songs who he cites as a massive inspiration. I do it myself, unfortunately not as well 😀 Love the face paint and the new channel

  6. I've been told first hand a story of Springsteen asking his manager to run out and buy complete Dylan collections so he could do precisely what you did with TMOE song. I think it's a fairly common practice for many recording artists to start with another song and use it as inspiration or catalyst to start a completely different song of their own. Thanks for the channel Gareth!
