  1. This minor mode thing is no news, it's been this way since the 50's, just read the book "How Music Really Works", it even has the minor chord progressions lol

  2. I feel like the lack of key center seems correlated to modern music often having fewer chords, simpler melodies, and repeating hooks that often don't really go anywhere

  3. 2:48 Ok… that’s a bit of a stretch. Good guitarists play in almost every key— this is very easy to do on guitar. Plus, if a guitarist doesn’t have the facility to perform in every key, he/she can always use a capo.

  4. I'm so looking forward to this trend dying out and guitars getting populair again…there are some good songs but most of them are not great (in my opinion ofcourse)

  5. it's kind of crazy how much 2020 changed pop music. as of this moment (may 22nd) the top 5 songs on the billboard are disco, and while i am not on tiktok, i know at least 2 of the songs went viral on there. plus, we saw a surge of female musicians be pushed out (most notably doja cat and olivia rodrigo). the year was defined by taylor swift, dua lipa, and the weeknd, two of which do disco, and one who wrote slower cottagecore folky songs. with songs like montero and mood, trap isn't exactly "out", but it no longer dominates in the same way

  6. Me intensely writing this all to make a rock song to try to make the genre get back into the top 10 charts because lets be honest rock seemed to have a little more soul than yuh or ayy like who can compare to godsmacks rraa i mean come on

  7. Amazing analysis for young artist like me and others out there. Much thanks for all the hard work and putting up this video. ?? PBS
