  1. They don't make them like this anymore. It's all garbage now. Cat Stevens, Jim Croce, Marvin Gaye, Harry Chapin, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Janis Joplin, John Denver, Van Morrison, Michael Murphy, Otis Redding, America, Fleetwood Mac, Crosby Stills and Nash. Sends chills up my spine. Legendary!

  2. Ya know I remember these late night adverts… I'd watch 'em after Leno and Reno 911! and I got this collection and the sixties discs are the best. Made 2011 a little better. With all that is going on, these songs mean so much more now.

  3. I bought the Singers and Songwriters and The Modern Rock 80's Collection 1n 1998. I didn't have alot of 70's and 80's music at that time.  Now I have tons of music more than both CD collections combined.  I would recommend this CD collection if you do not have any of these songs but if you have tons of CDs with all the songs then I wouldn't spend my money.  as far as the remastered versions I think the original versions sound better.  Remastered tends to take out the classic sounds that I grew up with.  Modern rock 80's is no longer available at Time-Life but you can purchase them at Amazon used from $2.00 to $150 which I find a little ridicules cause you can buy 150 80's songs for half the price on itune.  I would recommend to buy the Very Best of Soft Rock from time life then use itunes to purchase songs from this collections that Soft Rock does not have. Best of Luck

  4. I now added his greatest hits CD to my collection. I've become an even bigger fan to this day. After a long, hard day at college, I'll put on his music and he just takes me to a faraway place with his singing. He makes me feel as if I'm flying with him. John was a truly gifted storyteller and he inspired me to get outdoors more and appreciate nature and the environment. My parents are starting to sing some of his songs and "Sunshine On My Shoulders" has become a favorite in our house.

  5. Several years later, when was in high school, his songs came back into my mind. I had told my math teacher about how much I liked his voice and music. She was a JD fan too. The next week during class, she had given me several copies of his CD's. I played them over and over. I also watched The WildLife Concert special on PBS before buying it on DVD. I also got more specials that he did for Christmas, including one with the Muppets. Pretty soon, I started singing most of his songs.

  6. When I was watching this infomercial, I heard these beautiful words, "You fill up my senses like a night in a forest." I looked up at the TV to see who was singing and there he was. I had fallen in love with John instantly and after doing some research, I found out that he was the one that wrote For Baby and Leaving on a Jet Plane, along with the song that I heard, which was Annie's Song.

  7. This is where I first discovered my all time favorite singer-songwriter of the 70's, John Denver. I had heard many of his songs including "Leaving on a Jet Plane" and "For Baby (For Bobbi)" as done by Mary Travers of Peter, Paul, and Mary when I was a little girl. I had no idea who wrote those beautiful songs. I had looked at my CD's of theirs and saw his name on them. I was curious about who this songwriter was.
