  1. Wow! This is mindblowin! That's the best advise i did ever got. So true. I make music for 12 years or so. I have heard ALOT of stuff and learnings, but this one is really great. Thank you so much Beat Academy for setting this up! : ) More of this kind of interviews please! You are a phenomenal interviewer!

  2. 1!!!!!! I am currently recording, writing, and producing my own songs. I'm joining this chat after the live, but enjoying it. Thank you both! Signed up for Andrea's virtual retreat coming up soon. Can't wait!

  3. Question… Isn’t songwriting – like other artistic endeavors – dualistic, in that there are two – not necessarily mutually exclusive – directions one can take. Create for yourself, break rules and create your own following – but be prepared to not be that successful if it’s extremely niche – or compose with an audience in mind – but be prepared to bend the rules of a genre so as to create your own individuality within that genre – to achieve a broader commercial appeal. One point of concern is that commercial music is becoming generic and formulaic because of the lowest common denominator aspect that suggests that that is where success lies. Thank god for artists like Aldous Harding:)

  4. "…just screw it and i just abandon all need to make anybody happy. that's where truly the train wrecks and the gorgeous messes come out that are so artful…" 36:29
