We all can (and should) write our own songs on the piano. Composing your own music is easier than you think. All you need are some guidelines, creativity, and an open mind. In this lesson, Lisa walks Jordan through some simple steps to compose a song. These steps include:

-Selecting a chord progression
-Creating a melodic theme
-Playing the theme in different ways
-Changing up the rhythm

Using these simple ideas you can create a piece of music that is uniquely your own. Even though this lesson shows you how to do this in 5 minutes or less, once you get started you won’t want to stop!

  1. Loved this! Thanks!!

Lol this is a joke anyhow, but…I have a 99 key piano, and you stated the possibilities are endless for my “theme” however you were incorrect. 99^6 (one power for each note, you said use 6) = 941,480,149,401. Therefore the possibilities are not endless

    Lol

  2. How?!?! You made that sound so beautiful I just don't understand piano. But I love piano so much idk what to doooo ?? I'm not good at making anything sound good like this. And I don't know how to write a song which sucks cause I have so many feelings I want to put in a song

  3. Thanks for this!

God LOVES YOU so MUCH that He sent His only son to die in YOUR PLACE so you won't have to die under Gods judgment but live forever IF you fully trust in Jesus. So believe in Him and repent From thinking wickedness please???

  4. No one is going to read this, but this is an excellent place to start. I started piano as a new year's resolution. I want to start learning improvising, and this is a great place to start. Of course it is very meat & potatoes, but I accept that I wont begin to sound decent for at least another year, and now is a great time to get my songwriting gears turning.
