Does anybody know which brand is the thumbpick that Tommy Emmanuel is wearing during this interview? I know that often he uses standard Dunlop thumbpicks (white and turtle) but this one looks shorter than those, so I guess it is from another brand..

The only thing I know abut songwriting is that they have to be stories and have a beginning, middle and end. They need an arc, a them running through them from beginning to ending. And geometrically they have to start out smaller or less loud or less complex and gain more of all of those things as the verses and choruses progress. In the best songs the writer switches up the lyrics of the chorus a bit each time. Maybe the hardest part is writing a really goo 12 or 16 bar bridge to link the second chorus to the third verse. I also think the be songwriters tend to 'sweat the details" to get it just right, both musically and lyrically. Sounds pretty easy when you say it fast.

You may not be able to write like Merle Haggard Tommy, but I bet he can't pluck the strings like you.

I have written a guitar piece that has been described as 'comforting'. It's called Waltz for Mrs K and is on YouTube.
