It definitely needs some editing but thats whats fun about it!
I wrote a song after following your video on songwriting. Cheers
Some people like to play the music for hours at a time writing, I tend to play in 20 minute session's. I try not to think to hard about a song when writing but just let the music flow.
Thank you so much for posting this! Very helpful!!
subbed
good grief the ad that popped up at 6:43 right after a split second of a pryda snare caught me SO off guard
AND IT WAS FOR YOUR MUSIC COURSE DJTJFJFJJF

Amazing video, thanks ?
Don't bore us….. get to the chorus. Words of wisdom.
I actually don’t like it when writers shorten their second verse if it’s a particularly great sounding verse. A lot of times the verse is more enjoyable than the chorus to me and so it’s a let down when they shorten it.
I like the tips. Some are new to me. Thanks

I like the idea of changing the chords to 'uplift' the music. I've always thought that reflecting the 'feeling' in the lyrics with the music.
Such solid advice, thanks man!
I'm trying to get back into music on a little more dedicated level and I accidentally came across Andrews course! I enrolled! I'm going to pretend like Andrew is my friend in real life to mimic surrounding yourself with friends you aspire to be like. But a friend that's already famous and trying to help me accomplish my dreams ? lol ? I'm a goof! And I'm really excited to level up! Thanks for the high five in the intro. Made me feel like we're friends already. Lol I'm socially aquward and I'm excited!! ?
The less you think the better. Thinking gets in the way of music, which is an emotional experience, not a logical one
To add a bit to Thing 3, what I like to do leading up to my drops is put an EQ and a stereo imager on the master, then gradually cut the lows and tighten the width until right when the drop hits. Works almost every time.
Andrew- you just alerted me to exactly what a song I have been working on needs to transcend to another level. Thank you!
You have a nice voice! Don't let people tell you otherwise. Love your videos!
Where is the comment that summarizes everything???
thanks bro for the tips!
What I listen to before I do something, when I think I'm not enough to do it I listen to the song, keep the faith by Michael Jackson
"Remember you are enough"
As a mediocre drummer that sometimes plays at my church, getting locked in on these concepts is going to help me bring more to the table to drive the song effectively. So much of this can be accomplished with improving brain, not chops. Helpful.
Sorry. I like the overlap!
9:16 …I feel the need to balance the scales: YOU SUCK!
Thanks for buttering us up! 😛 You're welcome!
One of the things I've done in songwriting is taking an idea from a book and expanding on that idea. The Christian music industry does this well. Classic example, Shout to the Lord by Chris Tomlin.
The original text from Psalm 98 –
"Make a jubilant song to the LORD, all the earth; break forth, let your cry ring out and sing praises… let the sea resound… let the mountains sing together for joy."
Chris Tomlin put out a song years ago which, I think, takes these ideas and expands on them:
"Shout to the Lord, all the earth, let us sing
Power and majesty, praise to the King,
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
At the sound of your name
I sing for joy at the work of your hands
Forever I'll love you, forever I'll stand
Nothing compares to the promise I have in you"
Great video!
I have been producing for 11 years now and I've been apart of a lot of communities but one thing I can say Is I've never seen someone so positive and so dedicated to educating people, I've taught many friends how to get started writing their own music and explaining things can be very hard It's one thing to know something and another to put it into words and I can tell you definitely put a lot of work into these videos thank you for everything you do on this channel keep it coming <3
Some real good tips here. thank you
Great video!
Great tips! I keep songwriting/arrangement ideas in my phone notes cause I’m always thinkin of them at random moments
