QUESTION: Marty, I have a couple of doubts and I would love it if you were able to resolve them.
I know of a couple of songs that are in the key of C major, but they include chords like D major, D7 or E major. That´s my first and main doubt.
Now, when you played in the video the E minor and A minor chord progression, was it the key of C major? because I believe it was the A minor scale… In other words, can a song be in the key of C major, for example, without a C major chord? Thanks so much?

Don't forget about the Bm7b5 which is the 7th chord of Cmajor!!! (think Dm with B root note) the b5 is an f note
i've never studied music academically in my life, i've taught myself how to sing and play the guitar/piano, i knew exactly what he was saying, the stuff in this video was actually remedial for me. If this is what you consider advanced then i doubt you've been studying music all your life. This is the kind of stuff they teach music students in middle school….

when I write my songs, I use well known chord progressions and hum a melody over that, works for me=)

How can a note be major? How come he used a G minor chord in the there for the 5 chord, when G minor is NOT in the key of C. He does it at around 6:30
